Crafted from brass, gold, and semi-precious stones, Douriean Fletcher’s boldly sculptural jewelry articulates Black identity and spiritual meaning. This exhibition explores how Afrofuturism materializes in her work, highlighting research into African and African American jewelry traditions and efforts to bridge Black communities divided by colonialism and oppression. Featuring 75 works, Douriean Fletcher: Jewelry of the Afrofuture traces her journey from self-taught metalsmith to influential designer whose adornments shaped iconic aesthetics, including Marvel Studios’ Black Panther franchise.
